TVI Reality is the first Portuguese television channel entirely dedicated to reality shows. Since 2020, TVI Reality's Entertainment Director has been Cristina Ferreira.
The embryo of TVI Reality was the channel - initially known as the Big Brother channel (and informally as channel 43, a position it once held on TV Cabo), later as TVI Eventos and, in a final phase, as TVI Direct -, which broadcast live and continuous images from the Big Brother and Big Brother Famosos houses, in an initial phase, and from Casa dos Segredos and Big Brother VIP, in a later phase. This channel, which first went on air in 2001 - having been the second channel dedicated to Portuguese territory to be launched by TVI, after TVI itself on free-to-air signal - only broadcast during the aforementioned reality shows.
